‘A tale of two Champagne Houses…’
Two sister Houses – one steeped in history and the other almost mythical status.

Champagne Delamotte was founded by François Delamotte in 1760 and is the fifth oldest Champagne House, in 1825 it was served at the Coronation of Charles X. Delamotte found its permanent home in the Côtes des Blancs at the beginning of the 20th Century, in the heart of the Chardonnay region of Champagne – hence the flagship wine being their Blanc de Blancs.

Champagne Salon is the younger, sister House, founded in 1905 by Eugène-Aimé Salon who pioneered the Blancs de Blancs style due to his passion for Chardonnay. Acquiring mythical status due to extremely low production and the fact that it is made only in the very best years. Eugène-Aimé initially produced Salon from ‘Le Jadin de Salon’, one hectare of vines behind his house in Le Mesnil. Salon was initially made to be shared privately with friends, family, and of course to stock at his favourite Parisien restaurant, Maxime’s. The first vintage to be sold commercially was the 1921 with 2012 representing only the 43rd vintage to be made in over a century.
Cristian Rimoldi – Export Director for Salon and Delamotte and a passionate aficionado of fine wines and gastronomy. Cristian will be taking us through the though the history of these two phenomenal Houses. The wines have been paired with a carefully composed menu created by Executive Chef Kim Woodward.
Callum Robertson – Senior On-Trade Sales at Independent Wine Merchant Corney & Barrow whose exclusivities include Maison Delamotte & Salon. Callum has worked in the wine industry for 16 years and has presented several wine dinners at Clos Maggiore since 2016.
